AI visibility
What AI visibility tracking is and how to measure it
AI visibility tracking is the practice of asking ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini the questions your patients ask, then recording whether your clinic gets named, what the assistant says about you, and who else shows up in the same answer.
Generative engine optimization is the work that follows: shaping your site, your listings, and your published content so those assistants have something accurate and citable to pull from when a patient asks.
Tracking without optimization tells you where you stand. Optimization without tracking is a guess.
How assistants choose who to recommend
ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini answer differently depending on how they retrieve information.
- Some answers come from training data, which has a cutoff date and does not update until the model is retrained.
- Some come from live web retrieval, where the assistant searches, reads a handful of pages, and cites what it finds. Perplexity does this by default. ChatGPT and Gemini do it when browsing is on.
- Either way, the assistant is drawing on the same public signals: your site content, your Google Business Profile, directory listings, review sites, and any third-party page that mentions your clinic by name.
A clinic with a thin site and no third-party mentions gives the assistant nothing to cite. A clinic with clear service pages, consistent listings, and accurate reviews gives it something to work with.
What a weekly citation run measures
A citation run asks a fixed set of questions across all four assistants on a set schedule, then logs the result. The two numbers that matter:
- Mention rate by topic. For a given question, such as "best ketamine clinic in St. Petersburg FL," how often does your clinic appear across repeated runs.
- Mention rate by assistant. The same question can return you in Perplexity and skip you in Claude, since each assistant retrieves and weighs sources differently.
Running this weekly, not once, is what makes it evidence instead of a snapshot. Assistants update their retrieval and their training over time. A single check tells you what one assistant said on one day.
A worked example
The example below uses a fictional demo clinic, Sunview Ketamine, built to show the method, not a real result.
- Question run weekly across all four assistants: "who are the ketamine clinics in St. Petersburg FL."
- Week 1: mentioned by Perplexity, not mentioned by ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
- Week 4, after publishing a dosing FAQ page and correcting a Google Business Profile category: mentioned by Perplexity and ChatGPT, not mentioned by Claude or Gemini.
- Logged alongside each mention: which competitors appeared in the same answer, and whether the assistant's description of Sunview's services was accurate.
That is the unit of measurement: mention rate by topic, per assistant, tracked on a schedule, with the competing mentions and the accuracy of the description recorded next to it.
Where a tool stops and tracking starts
Ask Claude how to track brand mentions in ChatGPT today and it will point you to a monitoring tool such as Otterly.AI. That is a reasonable answer for logging mentions. It is not the same as running a fixed question set on a schedule, comparing results across four assistants, and reading the result against what actually changed on your site that week. A tool tells you a mention happened. It does not tell you why, or what to publish next.
Where the $495 audit fits
The AI Visibility Audit is the one offering on kesey.agency you can buy without a call, priced at $495 one time. Here is how it runs:
- You book a 20-minute intake call.
- We scan your current AI visibility across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini.
- You get the audit delivered within 24 hours of the intake call, not 24 hours from purchase. The clock starts when we talk.
- A walkthrough follows, covering what showed up, what did not, and what to fix first.
- The $495 credits to the first month if you move into any Growth Center tier afterward.
If you want the citation run itself as an ongoing service rather than a one-time audit, that lives in the Growth Center's Recommendation Engine tier, at $750 a month with no setup fee.
