FAQ

Questions, answered.

What Pre-Trip checks, where the rules come from, whether a pass counts as legal advice, and how your drafts are handled. If your question is not here, ask us and a human will answer.

The basics

What Pre-Trip is.

What is Pre-Trip?

Pre-Trip is a compliance scanner for regulated-health marketing. You paste an email, landing page, blog post, social post, or video creative, and it returns a pass or a precise, source-cited fix list, with every flag tied to the statute, rule, or platform policy it comes from. It is built by Kesey for marketing agencies and in-house teams.

Who is Pre-Trip for?

Marketing agencies and in-house marketing teams shipping copy into regulated health verticals. It is written for the person drafting or approving the copy, not for a lawyer, so the output is a plain fix list rather than a legal memo.

What kinds of content can I check?

Email, landing pages, blog posts, and social posts today, plus video creative, which Pre-Trip transcribes and screens. Each asset type carries its own free first check. The rules that apply adjust to the format, since an email has obligations a landing page does not.

Which industries and states does Pre-Trip cover?

The regulated-health verticals where advertising rules bite: addiction treatment, ketamine and psychedelic therapy, med spa and aesthetics, GLP-1 and weight loss, dental, cannabis, and telehealth, across all fifty states plus the always-on federal layer. Coverage deepens continuously, and the Rulesets page lists exactly what is live.

How is this different from asking ChatGPT whether my copy is compliant?

A general model guesses from training data and cannot tell you which statute it relied on or whether that law still reads the way it did. Pre-Trip runs a curated library where every rule cites adopted law, carries a review date, and fails closed when it goes stale, so a pass is auditable rather than a hunch.

Accuracy and citations

How much to trust a pass.

Is a Pre-Trip pass legal advice?

No. Pre-Trip is a rigorous screen, not legal advice, and a pass is not a legal opinion. It clears the known, cited, compiled problems so the draft that reaches your counsel is already worth their time.

Where do the rules and citations come from?

Every ruleset is built from adopted law and public platform policy, and every finding cites the specific statute, board rule, or policy behind it. Nothing rests on an uncited opinion, and if we cannot cite it, we do not flag it.

How current are the rules?

Each ruleset carries a review clock and a content hash. A rule only contributes to a clean pass while a human has reviewed it against its sources recently and the content has not changed since. When the clock expires or the text is edited, the rule reverts to pending automatically.

What does failing closed mean?

It means a rule that is unreviewed, expired, or not yet regulated still runs and still surfaces its findings, but it makes a clean pass impossible and the result tells you why. Pre-Trip would rather flag something for a human to check than stay quiet and let it through.

Does Pre-Trip replace my compliance lawyer?

No, and it is not meant to. It removes the mechanical, repetitive catches so your counsel spends their time on judgment calls instead of the same twenty issues on every draft. Counsel decides, we help you arrive prepared.

Privacy and your data

What happens to your draft.

Do you store the drafts I scan?

No. Submitted drafts are processed in memory and never stored: not in our database, not in logs, not in analytics. Privacy by design is the point, and the Trust page documents exactly where that line sits.

What do you record for each scan?

Only aggregate metadata: the verdict shape, counts, which rulesets ran, the states and verticals, and for video the cost and duration. Your account row holds your email and, if you started a trial, a consent timestamp and the page you signed up from. None of it is your draft content.

Is it safe to paste content that mentions patients?

Paste marketing copy, not records. Pre-Trip reads the words of an ad, not person-level data, so please keep patient information and anything identifiable out of it. The scanner is built to screen creative, not to process protected health information.

How is video handled?

An uploaded video is transcribed, screened, and then deleted on every completion path, and the audio sent for transcription carries no account identity. The transcript lives only until your browser collects the result, then it too is deleted. A background janitor sweeps anything either step leaves behind.

Do you sell or share my information?

No. We do not sell your data, and the only third parties involved are the named sub-processors that run the service, listed in the Privacy Policy. Your drafts are never among what is shared, because they are never kept.

Plans and billing

Trial, tokens, and the Bus Pass.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Your first check of each asset type is free, forever, with no card required to start. That is one free email scan, one landing-page scan, and so on, so you can see the library work on your own copy before you pay.

How much does Pre-Trip cost?

After the free checks you can buy a one-time token pack or subscribe to the monthly Bus Pass. Current prices are shown at checkout on the scanner, so they are always the live numbers rather than something that can drift out of date here.

What is the Bus Pass?

The Bus Pass is a monthly subscription that includes a set number of scans each month. The quota resets monthly and does not roll over. It suits teams running a steady volume, while token packs suit occasional or bursty use.

What counts as one scan?

One submission of one asset against the rules for one state and vertical. Resolution runs in order: your free trial first, then any Bus Pass quota, then tokens. If you have run out of everything, the scanner tells you before it charges anything.

What happens if a scan fails partway through?

It refunds itself. A scan that spends an entitlement and then errors returns that entitlement automatically, so a server-side failure never costs you a token or a pass scan.

API and integrations

Pre-Trip where you work.

Is there an API?

Yes. Pre-Trip offers a keyed REST API for a hard, pre-publish gate that blocks on a fail, running the same engine as the web scanner. You create and manage keys in your account on the scanner.

Can I check posts inside WordPress?

Yes. The Pre-Trip WordPress plugin screens a post before you publish it, showing the verdict and the cited fixes right in the editor. It is on the Integrations page along with everything else.

Can I use Pre-Trip inside Claude, Cursor, or other AI assistants?

Yes. Pre-Trip ships a Model Context Protocol server, so an assistant can run a compliance check while you draft, using your API key. A one-click hosted connector that needs no install is in private beta.

Is there a browser extension?

A browser extension that scans selected text on any page is in beta and heading for the Chrome Web Store. Until it lands there you can load it unpacked, and the Integrations page has the current status.

For agencies

Screening client work.

Can I use Pre-Trip for my clients marketing?

Yes, that is exactly who it is for. Agencies use Pre-Trip to screen client copy before it ships and to hand clients a cited fix list rather than a vague worry. One account can check work across as many clients and states as you serve.

Who is liable if a client ad is non-compliant?

That is a question for you and your counsel, and it is more nuanced than many agencies expect: enforcement and platform bans can reach the agency, not just the advertiser. Pre-Trip lowers the odds of shipping a known problem, but it is a screen, not a shield. The agency-liability guide walks through the exposure.

Can my whole team use Pre-Trip?

Yes. Tell us how your team is set up and what volume you run, and we will point you at the right plan. Use the form on this page or write to hello@kesey.agency.

Do you offer agency or volume pricing?

Reach out and let us talk. If you are screening at volume or across a roster of clients, we would rather build the right arrangement with you than have you count tokens. The form on this page reaches us directly.

Still have a question?

Ask us directly.

Tell us what you are trying to ship and where, and a human answers. If you want, paste a snippet and we will screen it as part of the reply.

Please do not include patient information or anything person-level; the scanner reads copy, not data. Writing to us does not create an attorney-client relationship, because we are not attorneys, which is the whole point of the Trust page.
