Can you keep using Fireflies with Day.ai?
You can. On most teams you should not. Day.ai records Zoom, Meet and Teams itself, on every plan including the free one, so running both means paying two vendors to transcribe the same call. There is one case where keeping the other recorder is right, and it is not the one people assume.
What Day.ai does without any recorder
A bot joins the call as a participant and records it. This is first party, not an integration, and it is on the free tier.
Zoom, Meet, Teams
All three. The meeting has to be on your calendar with a link in it, which means the invite is the trigger and nobody has to remember anything.
Included at $0
Recording is not gated behind a paid agent. You can run the free tier and still get every call transcribed.
It writes to the record
Participants, topics and a summary land on the contact and company, which is the part a standalone recorder cannot do without a sync.
Which recorders Day.ai actually connects to
Two. Everything else is a file import or nothing.
| Recorder | Status | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Gong | Native integration | Recordings, transcripts and participants sync in |
| Granola | Native integration | Notes converted into the same format |
| Fireflies | Not supported | File import only, one time |
| Otter, Fathom, Grain, Read | Not supported | Same |
If you are on Gong, keep it. It stays the system of record for calls and Day.ai reads from it. If you are on anything else, you are choosing, and the choice is not close on cost: you are paying a second vendor for a job the CRM already does on its free plan.
Read off Day.ai's own integrations page, 30 August 2026. Several comparison sites list this wrong by counting the built in recorder as an integration.
Moving your back catalogue across
You do not lose the old calls. There is an import path, and it has limits worth knowing before you plan a cutover around it.
50 files at a time
Records, then Imports, then Organization Notes. Accepts .txt, .vtt, .docx and .pdf. Day.ai positions this at people leaving Chorus and Fathom, so the path is intended rather than improvised.
It is a one time upload, not a sync
Nothing keeps running afterwards. If you cancel the old tool on Monday, export first. A few hundred calls is several passes at fifty files.
How to decide in one minute
- Keep the other recorder ifyour sales coaching lives in it, your team reviews calls in it weekly, or it is Gong and somebody already paid for the year.
- Drop it ifwhat you actually use is the transcript and the summary. That is the common case, and it is the one where teams keep paying out of habit.
- Never run both silently. Two bots join the same call, both announce themselves, and your prospect watches two robots arrive. Pick one before the next external call.
Day.ai meeting recording questions
Does the Day.ai bot join every meeting automatically?
You set a default and can override it per meeting. You can stop it joining a specific call, re invite it to one it skipped, or turn recording off entirely.
Can I use Fireflies and Day.ai at the same time?
Technically yes, nothing blocks it. Both bots will join and both will announce themselves. There is no integration between them, so the transcripts do not reconcile and you are paying twice.
Will my old Fireflies transcripts import?
If you can export them as .txt, .vtt, .docx or .pdf, yes, fifty at a time through Organization Notes. It is an upload, not a connection.
Where we come in
We work out what you can stop paying for
Most teams arrive running two tools that transcribe the same call, and nobody wants to be the one to cancel either. We audit it, make the call and move the back catalogue so nothing is lost on the way.
- An honest look at what each tool is actually earning
- The recording and sharing defaults set once, deliberately
- Your existing transcripts imported rather than abandoned
- A written note of what changed, for whoever asks in six months
