Where your data lives once it is in Day.ai

The good news first: the raw material never leaves your hands. Day.ai builds itself from your Google mail and calendar, which you still own. What it adds on top is worth understanding, because that part is theirs to hold and there is no published guide to getting a copy.

What sits where

You already own this

The source

Every email and every calendar entry the record is built from is sitting in your Google account. Cancel tomorrow and it is all still there. That is a real safety net and it is worth knowing before anyone worries you about lock in.

They hold this

What gets built from it

Meeting transcripts and summaries, the relationship map, enriched company details, agent history. This is the value you are paying for, and it is the part with no documented way to take a copy.

Being precise about the claim: we could not find an export path published anywhere, and their trust page covers deletion as policy without telling a person how to do anything. That is a gap in the documentation. It is not evidence that no path exists, and we are not going to pretend it is.

Four things worth doing, in order

  1. Ask, and keep the answer

One email to their support address: what is the export path, what formats, does it include transcripts. They answer, and an answer in writing is worth more than a page they might publish later.

  2. Keep the Google account healthy

It is the source of everything. Whatever happens to any CRM, the mail and the calendar are still yours, and that alone covers most of what people are actually afraid of.

  3. Leave billing where it bills

Contract values, renewal dates and invoices belong in the system that raises them. Keep them there and every future decision gets easier, which is true of any CRM and not a comment on this one.

  4. Know a developer can read it out

They publish a developer kit and the records come out through it. Not a one click download, but a day of work rather than an impossibility.

Common questions

Is there an export button?

Nothing published describes one and we did not test inside the product. Ask their support and get it in writing. Treat any confident answer either way as unverified until it comes from them.

Would my meeting transcripts come with me?

Not stated. Worth noting they accept transcript import in four formats, so portability inbound is clearly something they have thought about. Ask about the other direction.

Should this change my decision?

Honestly, no. Most CRMs are awkward to leave and people move anyway, and the source data here stays yours throughout. It should change what you let it own: keep the billing elsewhere, keep the Google account, and get the export answer in an email in month one.

Where we come in

We settle the governance questions in week one

These are cheap decisions to make early and expensive ones to make in year two, and nobody enjoys making them alone. We work through them with you and put the answers somewhere you can find them again.

  • The questions asked of the vendor, in writing, with the answers kept
  • A clear line about what lives in the CRM and what does not
  • Billing and contract data left where it belongs
  • An exit that exists on paper before anybody needs it
