Getting your data back out of Clarify
CSV export on every object, from the app or the API, on every plan including the free one. Which is a better answer than most CRMs give, and there are still two things worth setting up in month one rather than on the day you need them.
How the export actually works
Three clicks, and one detail that decides what you get.
Open the view you want
Any People, Companies, Deals or List view. Custom objects too.
Set the columns first, and this is the whole trick
The export carries the columns visible in the current view, not every field on the record. So a default view exports a default subset. Add the columns you need before you export, or you will do it twice.
Menu, Export CSV
The ⋯ menu at the top right of the view. The file downloads immediately, named after the view, so
All People.csvorMy Pipeline.csv.
All four record types export: People, Companies, Deals and Custom Objects. It is available from the API as well as the app, which is what makes a scheduled backup possible rather than a monthly chore somebody forgets.

What the export does not carry
Worth knowing in advance rather than at the moment you need it.
Meeting recordings and transcripts
A record export is fields. Transcripts come out through the API or the Zapier Get Meeting Recording Transcript action, and if those calls matter to you, that is a separate job from the record backup.
The AI work you paid for
Deal summaries, meeting briefs and field suggestions are generated output. Some of it lands in fields you can export; the rest is display. Export a real view and check before you assume.
The source
The email and calendar Clarify reads from is in your own Google or Microsoft tenant, not theirs. Whatever happens to the CRM, the raw material of the record never stopped being yours.
Two things to do in month one
Build the export view before you need it
Make one saved view per object with every column you would want in a backup, and name it so it is obvious. Then an export is three clicks by anyone rather than a field by field reconstruction under pressure.
This costs ten minutes now. The alternative costs a morning on the worst possible day.
Decide who holds a Workspace key
Scheduled backups need a key that is not tied to one person's account, or the backup stops the day that person leaves. A Workspace key is admin created and carries no user identity.
Note the trade recorded on the API page: no identity also means less meeting and email data than your own login can see. Test the export before you trust the schedule.
The record limits, since they are part of the same question
| Plan | Records | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 20,000 | People, companies, meetings and deals together. A founder's contact history reaches this sooner than expected. |
| Starter | 250,000 | Comfortable for a small team with years of email behind it. |
| Growth | Unlimited | Also where warehouse access sits, which is the answer when a CSV is no longer the right shape. |

Common questions
Can I export my data from Clarify?
Yes. CSV export on People, Companies, Deals and Custom Objects, from any view or through the API, on every plan including Free.
Why is my export missing fields?
Because the export carries the columns visible in the current view rather than every field on the record. Add the columns to the view first, then export.
Can I automate a backup?
Yes, export is available through the API, so a scheduled job can pull it. Use a Workspace key rather than a personal one so the backup survives the person who set it up leaving.
Do meeting transcripts come out in the export?
Not in a record CSV. Retrieve them through the API or the Zapier Get Meeting Recording Transcript action. Treat transcripts as a separate backup from records.
Who owns the underlying email and calendar data?
You do. It sits in your Google or Microsoft tenant and Clarify reads it. What Clarify builds on top, the assembled records and the generated summaries, lives in Clarify, which is what the export exists for.
What is warehouse access?
A Growth tier feature in Clarify's own plan comparison. When you have outgrown CSVs and want the data queryable alongside everything else, that is the route, and it is a sales conversation rather than a setting.
Where we come in
We set the backup up while it is still cheap to do
Every export question is easy in month one and unpleasant on the day you need it. We build the views, the key and the schedule now, so leaving is always an option rather than a project.
- A saved export view per object, carrying the columns a backup needs
- A workspace key that outlives whoever set the schedule up
- Transcripts handled separately, because a record CSV never carries them
- A plan for the record ceiling before you reach it
