How do you get outbound replies into Day.ai?
Through Zapier, in about ten minutes. It creates the person and the company. It does not open the deal, which is the one thing worth knowing before you build it rather than after.
What the Zapier connection actually does
| What | Day.ai on Zapier |
|---|---|
| What it can do | One thing: create or update a record |
| What kind of record | A person or a company. Nothing else |
| What it needs | An email for a person, a domain for a company |
| What it can start | Nothing. Information travels one way |
One thing genuinely in your favour here. You can hand it a block of untidy text and it works out which part is the name, the company and the rest. No field mapping to set up. Paste the reply straight in and it sorts it out, which makes the quick version of this work better than it has any right to.
Two things worth knowing first
A reply will not open the deal
The Zapier connection creates people and companies. Opening an opportunity needs the $60 plan and a bit of code rather than a Zap. So a good reply arrives as a contact and a person still starts the deal, which is arguably where that decision belongs anyway.
Every person needs an email address
That is how Day.ai identifies someone, and a company is identified by its domain. A LinkedIn reply with no address attached cannot create a record. Make sure whatever fires the Zap carries one, or the step quietly does nothing.
Which way information travels
Information flows into Day.ai easily and does not flow back out on its own. Their integrations page says as much. It is not a problem so long as you know it while you are designing, which is the whole reason for this section.
Sequencer into Day.ai
A ten minute Zap. Reply lands, contact appears, context attaches.
Day.ai back to the sequencer
Nothing is announced when a deal closes, so your sequencer would have to check on a timer. Possible, and somebody has to look after it.
So keep the sending where the do-not-contact list already lives. Let your outbound tool own who gets emailed and let Day.ai own what was said. Split that way it is a ten minute job and stays a ten minute job.
Outbound and Day.ai questions
Does Day.ai have a native integration with any sequencer?
No. Six tools plug in directly: Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Gong, Granola and Zapier. Every sequencer goes through Zapier, which is quick, or through code if you want more control.
Can Day.ai send the outbound itself?
It drafts and sends email from the tiers that include drafting, which is fine for one to one follow up. It is not a sequencer: no list management, no deliverability tooling, no warmup, no unified reply inbox.
What stops us emailing someone twice from two systems?
Nothing automatic, so decide it deliberately. Day.ai will not tell your sequencer to stop, which means one system owns sending and it should be whichever one already holds your do-not-contact list.
Where we come in
We wire the reach layer to the record
Outbound and the CRM are two different jobs and the seam between them is where deals get double emailed and replies get lost. We own that seam, from the sending domains up to what lands on the record.
- One system made the owner of who gets contacted
- Replies landing on the right person and company automatically
- Deliverability set up properly rather than assumed
- A handover you can run without us
